What to compare

Before looking at the list, it helps to know what actually matters for your income.

  • Fee. The percentage the platform keeps, and whether payment processing is extra.
  • Ways to earn. Subscriptions only, or also paid messages, pay per view posts and tips.
  • Content rules. Whether adult content is allowed, banned, or kept separate.
  • Brand. How your link looks to fans, sponsors and family.
  • Payouts. How fast money clears, the minimum, and the methods.
  • Ownership. Whether you can export your fan list.

The platforms one by one

FanBase

FanBase is a fan subscription platform for every kind of creator. You get up to three tiers priced from $4.99 to $49.99 a month, bundles for 3, 6 and 12 months, pay per view posts, paid messages, tips, scheduling, analytics and CSV export. Fans pay by card or crypto. The fee is 20 percent with nothing else for creators. Adult creators work in a separate Adult 18+ section that never shows in mainstream categories, the homepage or search. Read the details on our OnlyFans alternative page.

Good for creators who want the full toolkit with a brand that suits a mainstream audience.

Fansly

Fansly offers tiered subscriptions, flexible post locks and strong messaging tools for a 20 percent fee. It is widely used by adult creators. We compare it in detail on our Fansly alternative page.

Good for creators who want tiers and an audience used to adult platforms.

Fanvue

Fanvue offers subscriptions, messages and pay per view, and it promotes AI tools for creators. Its standard fee is around 20 percent, and it has offered reduced rates to new creators for a limited time. Check its current terms before you join.

Good for creators who want an OnlyFans style platform and are interested in AI features.

Patreon

Patreon is the best known membership platform for mainstream creators. New creators pay a 10 percent platform fee plus payment processing. It has strict limits on explicit content and centers on memberships rather than paid messages. See our Patreon alternative page for a full comparison.

Good for mainstream creators who mainly sell memberships and want a lower base fee.

Ko-fi

Ko-fi started as a tip jar and now also offers memberships and a shop. One off tips carry no platform fee on its standard plan, memberships and shop sales carry 5 percent, and a paid plan removes the fee. Processing is extra.

Good for creators who mostly receive tips and small purchases.

Buy Me a Coffee

Buy Me a Coffee offers tips, simple memberships and a shop for a 5 percent fee plus processing. It is easy to set up and friendly for supporters.

Good for creators who want a simple support page with low fees.

How to choose

Start with what your fans already pay for. If they mostly tip, Ko-fi or Buy Me a Coffee may be enough. If they pay for memberships and little else, Patreon's lower fee can make sense. If you sell a mix of memberships, single posts and messages, a full toolkit platform will usually earn more from the same audience, even with a higher fee.

Then think about your brand. A musician, coach or chef may not want their link to read as an adult platform. That is the main reason FanBase exists: the same earning tools, a mainstream setting, and adult content kept apart and verified.

Finally, look at what you keep after everything. Our fees page has worked examples, and our payouts page explains when and how FanBase pays you.

A note for musicians

Musicians often mix all of these income types: memberships for demos and early releases, pay per view for full live sets, tips after a new song, and paid messages for personal shout outs. If that sounds like you, see how others set up their tiers on FanBase for musicians.

Try the numbers

On the FanBase homepage you can enter a page name, category, monthly price and the number of paying fans you expect. You see a preview of your page and your projected monthly payout at 80 percent instantly, with no account needed.
