18 U.S.C. 2257 Compliance Statement

Last updated October 15, 2026

This statement explains how age and identity records are kept for adult content on FanBase, under 18 U.S.C. 2257 and 28 C.F.R. Part 75. It is published by the administrator of the fanbase.org service.

Who appears in adult content

Every person who appears in any visual depiction in the Adult 18+ section of FanBase was 18 years of age or older at the time the content was created.

How records are kept

  • Creators are the producers. Each creator who posts adult content is the producer of that content. Creators create the records required by 18 U.S.C. 2257 for every performer in their content, including themselves.
  • What the records include. A copy of a valid government issued photo ID for every performer, showing their legal name and date of birth, any other names used, and a signed consent and release from each performer.
  • Records before posting. Creators must have these records on file before adult content is posted.
  • Review by FanBase. Every creator completes identity verification with a government ID and a selfie before posting in the Adult 18+ section. When a post shows anyone other than the verified creator, FanBase reviews the co-performer's ID and consent records as part of post review, before the post goes public. Posts without complete records are not published.
  • Secure storage. Copies of identity records received by FanBase are stored encrypted and used only for verification and legal record keeping.

Custodian of records

Requests to the custodian of records for content on FanBase are handled through support@fanbase.org. Please include the address of the post or profile in question. Inspection requests from authorised officials are answered in line with 28 C.F.R. 75.5.

Content not covered

Content in the mainstream areas of FanBase (music, fitness, food, gaming, podcasts, art, education, lifestyle and similar) does not contain actual or simulated sexually explicit conduct and is exempt from the record keeping requirements of 18 U.S.C. 2257 and 2257A.

FanBase acts as a hosting service for creator content. To the extent FanBase is not the primary or secondary producer of content posted by creators, it is not required to keep records for that content, but it reviews records as described above as a safety measure.

Report a concern

If you believe any content on FanBase shows a person under 18, use the report button on the post or profile, or email support@fanbase.org right away. Such reports are handled first. Content involving minors is removed, the account is closed and the matter is reported to the authorities.
