FanBase respects the work of creators and copyright owners. This policy explains how to report content that infringes your copyright, how to respond to a report, and how we handle repeat infringers. It follows the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and is set by the administrator of the fanbase.org service.
Send a copyright notice
Send notices by email to support@fanbase.org with "Copyright notice" in the subject line. Your notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature, or that of a person authorised to act for the copyright owner.
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe was infringed.
- The exact address (URL) of each post or profile on FanBase with the material you want removed.
- Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address, so we can contact you. We use these details only to handle the notice and share them with the creator only as the DMCA requires.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.
Incomplete notices may delay our response. Sending a notice you know is false can make you liable for damages.
What happens next
- We review the notice and, if it is complete, remove or disable access to the material promptly.
- We tell the creator who posted it and send them a copy of the notice.
- Payouts tied to removed material may be held while the case is open.
Counter notice
If you are a creator and believe your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter notice to support@fanbase.org with "Counter notice" in the subject line. It must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- A description of the removed material and the address where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you live outside the United States, any judicial district in which the service may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.
We send the counter notice to the person who filed the original notice. If they do not tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material within 10 to 14 business days after we receive the counter notice.
Repeat infringers
We close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright. As a rule, an account that receives three valid copyright notices that are not successfully countered is closed permanently, and earlier action may be taken in serious cases, such as reposting other creators' paid content.
Content shared outside FanBase
If a creator's FanBase content is posted on another site without permission, the creator owns that content and can send a notice to that site. We may be able to help confirm that the content was first published on FanBase. Write to support@fanbase.org.
