OnlyFans takes 20 percent of every fan payment. Patreon charges creators who launched after August 4, 2025 a 10 percent platform fee plus payment processing. FanBase charges one 20 percent fee with processing included, so you keep 80 percent of everything fans pay, with no monthly plan or other creator costs.

Figures below were checked at the time of writing (October 2026). Platforms change their pricing, so confirm on their own pages before deciding.

OnlyFans fees

OnlyFans keeps 20 percent of subscriptions, tips, pay per view and paid messages. There is no monthly fee for creators. The rate is simple, which is part of why it became the standard for fan platforms.

Patreon fees

Patreon changed its pricing for new creators in August 2025. Pages launched after August 4, 2025 pay:

  • A 10 percent platform fee on membership income.
  • Payment processing on top. For US card payments this starts at 2.9 percent plus $0.30 per payment, and it is higher for some currencies and methods.

Creators who launched before that date can keep their earlier plan. Because the $0.30 part is a fixed amount, processing takes a larger share of small payments. A $5 membership loses more in percentage terms than a $25 one.

FanBase fees

FanBase keeps it to one number.

  • Joining is free.
  • Platform fee is 20 percent of each fan payment, with processing included.
  • You keep 80 percent.
  • Monthly plan for creators: none.
  • Payout fee charged by FanBase: none.

The same 20 percent applies to memberships, renewals, bundles, pay per view posts, paid messages and tips.

A worked example

Here is a hypothetical example. Say you have 200 members paying $9.99 a month, and each pays with a US card.

Platform Fan payments Platform fee Processing (estimate) You keep
FanBase $1,998.00 $399.60 Included $1,598.40
OnlyFans $1,998.00 $399.60 Included $1,598.40
Patreon (new creator) $1,998.00 $199.80 About $117.94 About $1,680.26

On memberships alone, Patreon's lower fee leaves you more per month in this example. We think it is important to say that plainly.

When the toolkit changes the math

Now add the income that only full toolkit platforms make easy. Same 200 members, plus 40 pay per view sales at $8, 60 paid message unlocks at $5 and $200 in tips.

Income Fan payments You keep on FanBase
Memberships $1,998.00 $1,598.40
Pay per view $320.00 $256.00
Paid messages $300.00 $240.00
Tips $200.00 $160.00
Total $2,818.00 $2,254.40

In this example, the extra sources add $656 a month on FanBase. Whether that happens for you depends on your audience. If your fans only want a membership, a lower fee platform may suit you. If they also buy single posts, unlock messages and tip, the full toolkit usually earns more.

Fees on small prices

Fixed processing amounts hurt small payments the most. On FanBase, a $4.99 membership gives you $3.99 and a $49.99 membership gives you $39.99. The percentage is the same at every price, which makes cheap entry tiers practical.

What the fee pays for

The 20 percent covers payment processing by card and crypto, hosting of your images, video and audio, review of every post before it goes public, checks of every upload against lists of known illegal material, identity verification, support at support@fanbase.org, and weekly payouts. You can read more on our safety page.

Payouts

Earnings clear 7 days after each payment. Once your cleared balance is $50 or more, you can withdraw, and payouts go out weekly to a bank account or a crypto wallet. Details are on the payouts page.

Questions to ask any platform about fees

Before you commit to any platform, it helps to ask the same short list of questions. The answers tell you what you will really keep.

  1. Is processing included in the fee, or charged on top?
  2. Is there a fixed amount per payment that hurts small prices?
  3. Do tips, single sales and messages carry the same fee as memberships?
  4. Is there a monthly plan, a payout fee or a currency fee?
  5. How long until earnings can be withdrawn, and is there a minimum?
  6. Can you export your fan list if you leave?

On FanBase the answers are short: processing is included, there is no fixed amount per payment, every income type has the same 20 percent, there is no monthly plan, earnings clear in 7 days with a $50 minimum, and you can export fans as CSV any time.
