FanBase is a membership platform for creators that gives you a finished membership website at fanbase.org/@yourname, with up to three paid tiers, multi month bundles, members only posts, paid messages and tips. It is free to join, there is no monthly plan, and you keep 80 percent of every fan payment.

Building a membership site from scratch means choosing hosting, a theme, a payment setup, a login system and a way to lock content. A membership platform does all of that for you. You set your prices, post your work and get paid.

What your membership page includes

Your page is the home for your members. It has:

  • A cover image, avatar, bio and links to your other channels.
  • A category, so fans browsing Explore can find you.
  • Up to three membership tiers with clear prices and perks.
  • A feed of your posts, with free previews for visitors and full access for members.
  • Tip buttons on your profile and posts.

Fans create a free account with an email and password, confirm it with a 6 digit code, and subscribe by card or crypto. They see your posts in a feed of creators they support and can bookmark favourites.

Tiers that make sense to fans

Three tiers is usually enough. More choices tend to slow people down. Each tier has its own monthly price between $4.99 and $49.99 and its own perks.

Here is an example structure for an educator. It is an illustration, not a recommendation for your prices.

Tier Example price Example perks
Student $4.99 a month Weekly lesson notes, members only posts
Study group $9.99 a month Everything above plus worksheets and video walkthroughs
Mentor $24.99 a month Everything above plus monthly paid message feedback

You can find more ideas for teaching content on FanBase for educators.

Bundles for longer commitments

Offer 3, 6 and 12 month memberships at a discount you choose. Bundles reward your most loyal fans and give you steadier income.

Posts with the right level of access

Every post can be:

  1. Public. Anyone can see it. Good for previews and announcements.
  2. Members only. Any paying member can see it.
  3. For a minimum tier. Only members on that tier or higher can see it.
  4. Pay per view. Anyone can unlock it for one price.

Posts can include images, video, audio and text, and you can schedule them for later so your page stays active even on busy weeks.

More than a membership

A membership is the base of your income. Most creators earn more by adding a few extra options for fans who want more.

  • Paid messages. Send messages with locked media that fans unlock.
  • Tips. Fans tip on your profile and posts.
  • Pay per view. Sell a single post, such as a full workshop or a long video, without asking fans to change tier.

Our creator monetization platform page explains how these fit together.

Analytics and ownership

Your dashboard shows earnings by source (memberships, renewals, pay per view, messages, tips) and how many active members you have. You can export your fan list and earnings as CSV any time. If you ever move on, your audience list goes with you.

Fees and payouts

FanBase is free to join. We keep 20 percent of each fan payment and you keep 80 percent. There are no setup fees or monthly plans for creators. See the full breakdown on our fees page.

Earnings clear 7 days after each payment. Once your cleared balance is $50 or more, you can withdraw, and payouts go out weekly to a bank account or a crypto wallet. You complete identity verification before your first payout. The payouts page has the details.

Who uses a membership platform like FanBase

FanBase works for creators across many fields:

  • Musicians sharing demos, stems and early releases.
  • Fitness coaches posting programs and check ins.
  • Chefs publishing recipe collections and cooking videos.
  • Gamers posting VODs and strategy notes.
  • Podcasters running bonus episodes.
  • Artists sharing process videos and high resolution files.
  • Educators posting lessons and worksheets.
  • Lifestyle creators sharing behind the scenes content.

Safety built in

Every post is reviewed before it goes public, and every upload is checked against lists of known illegal material. Every profile and post has a report button. Adult content is kept in a separate, verified 18+ section that never appears in the main catalogue.

Membership website or membership platform

Some creators build their own membership website with a site builder and a set of plugins. That gives full control over design, but it also means paying for hosting and tools each month, keeping logins and payments working, handling failed payments and fixing problems yourself.

A membership platform like FanBase takes care of all of that. Your page, fan accounts, payments by card and crypto, access rules, cancellations and payouts are handled for you, and you pay only when fans pay you. You can still link to FanBase from your own site, newsletter and social profiles, so it fits into what you already have.

See your page before you sign up

On the homepage, enter a page name, category, monthly price and the number of paying fans you expect. You instantly see a preview of your membership page and your projected monthly payout at 80 percent, with no account needed.
